Event details: SPS (Smart Production Solutions) is the most professional industry exhibition in the field of electrical automation in Europe, held annually in Nuremberg, focusing on automation hardware, industrial communication, industrial software, and sensor technology. It is the core platform for German automation manufacturers to release new products and exchange technology. The 2026 SPS exhibition covers the entire automation industry chain, with exhibits ranging from individual sensors at the bottom level (level, pressure, flow, safety sensors), IO Link field equipment, safety relays PLC、 Motion controller, industrial software, edge computing platform, digital twin system.

VDMA and ZVEI jointly set up a technical forum in Hall 3 of the exhibition, with multiple themed sub venues covering topics such as digitalization of intelligent sensors, OT network security, standardization of automation systems, low-cost digital transformation of small and medium-sized factories, and application of functional safety instruments. The forum will invite automation manufacturers, system integrators, chemical and building materials end-users to share on-site case studies.

German well-known automation and instrumentation companies such as LK, VEGA Weige, Beijiafu, Phoenix, Beifu, and Weidmuller have confirmed their participation in the exhibition and plan to release their new generation of measurement sensor products at the show. Among them, the level measurement manufacturers focus on showcasing high-frequency radar level gauges, new guided wave radars, enhanced IO Link and Bluetooth wireless debugging functions, and adaptability to complex working conditions such as dust, high temperature, and low dielectric solid materials.

The organizing committee of the exhibition introduced that the obvious trend of SPS in recent years is that automation is no longer an independent control hardware, but an integrated solution of "sensor controller software data". Many projects no longer purchase PLCs or level instruments separately, but directly purchase a complete set of measurement and control automation solutions. At the same time, the demand for lightweight automation transformation in small and medium-sized enterprises is rapidly increasing, and manufacturers are launching low-cost, easy to debug modular automation products to lower the digital threshold.
